How and for what amino acidsare used in cosmetology

Amino acids are part of the protein, the bricks from which it is built. Therefore, cosmetologists have paid attention to them long ago, because the skin is very quickly updated and it constantly needs building material.
Proteins are synthesized in the body from amino acids, which are formed as a result of the split of proteins found in food. In total there are about 20 amino acids. Their sources are products containing protein: milk, meat, eggs, legumes.
Skin proteins – collagen and elastin – are also synthesized from the amino acids. Therefore, amino acids have a beneficial effect on the dermal framework. They improve dry, flaccid and atonic skin. In addition, hygroscopic molecules of the stratum corneum of the skin, which collect the moisture contained in the air, are formed by the amino acids.
Cosmetic preparations usually contain not one but several amino acids. But for the absorption and penetration of amino acids into the skin, it is necessary to use certain technologies. The fact is that the lipid structures of the stratum corneum fill the entire extracellular space, gluing together horny scales and forming a waterproof lipid barrier. Since the amino acids are water-soluble (hydrophilic), this barrier prevents their penetration inside. Therefore, the skin needs to be prepared. To temporarily reduce the barrier function of the skin, chemical or mechanical peels can be used.
In cosmetic salons, ampouled amino acid preparations are implanted into the skin using hardware techniques. Galvanization and ultraphonophoresis are the most common of them. During these procedures there is a transflicular passage of the drug into the skin – through the ducts of the sebaceous and sweat glands. The procedures are conducted in a course of 10-12 sessions 3 times a week. However, the most effective technique for the introduction of amino acids today is the well-known mesotherapy.
As for creams, then nanotechnologies are used here. Liposomes and nanosomes, which have the ability to penetrate through intercellular spaces, act as conductors. Amino acids are located inside these small structures and with their helpare carried deep into the skin. As a rule, creams with liposomes or nanosomes are present both in pharmacy cosmetics and in popular cosmetic series. They are used for rejuvenation and deep hydration of the skin.
In its pure form, cosmetology uses methionine, which is a precursor of keratin. It is prescribed in tablets for skin problems. The drug is prescribed for long and complex use and as a result gives an improvement in the condition of the hair, skin and nails. Today, experts have named three more amino acids responsible for hair production – histidine, lysine and tyrosine.
